2013 NFL Mock Draft: Colts Eying D.J. Fluker At No. 24

For this week, Dan and the Mocking the Draft crew have the Colts eying an offensive lineman with the No. 24 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Welcome to Mock Draft Monday, where my old buddy Dan Kadar will dazzle your soul with his pre-draft mocks. For this week, Dan and the Mocking the Draft crew have the Colts eying an offensive lineman with the No. 24 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft:

24. Indianapolis Colts
D.J. Fluker, Alabama
OT 6-5 355 Sr.

Winston Justice is an unrestricted free agent and Ben Ijalana has been a bust of a draft pick. Fluker has been a fast-rising prospect with impressive size and power in the run blocking game. There has been speculation that Fluker may not fall out of the top 20 picks, but if he does, the Colts should take him and look for help on defense later in the draft.

My thoughts:

Well, I can't say I disagree with Dan's logic, especially when he calls Ben Ijalana a bust. Personally, I think Justice should be and will be re-signed. He a solid right tackle, when healthy. However, he isn't a long-term solution, and the "when healthy" part was not that often in 2012 for Justice.

Going forward, you need another bookend. For the present, at 6'5, 355 lbs, Fluker would easily be the biggest lineman on the block in Indianapolis. He could take a turn at guard in Pep Hamilton's new system, kicking out to tackle if Justice struggles or gets hurt.

Plus, a year after drafting a guy named Fugger, I think it only appropriate the Colts get a Fluker on the roster.

Note: Dan passed up on DTs Johnathan Hankins of Ohio State and John Jenkins of Georgia.

Your thoughts?
