'The Great Gatsby' ? the latest film version of the novel, directed by Baz Luhrmann ? had originally been slated for a Christmas Day 2012 release.

?It truly brings Fitzgerald's American classic to life in a completely immersive, visually stunning and exciting way,? said Warner Bros. Pictures president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman in a statement. ?We think moviegoers of all ages are going to embrace it, and it makes sense to ensure this unique film reaches the largest audience possible.?
Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, the president of international distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures, said response from test screenings had been positive.
?We think 'The Great Gatsby' will be the perfect summer movie around the world," she said.
?Gatsby? is directed by ?Moulin Rouge!? director Baz Luhrmann and will star actor Leonardo DiCaprio as the titular character, ?Drive? actress Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, and ?Spider-Man? actor Tobey Maguire as the story?s narrator Nick Carraway. It will be released in 3-D.
