Cinquo de Mayo or not, a Margarita is always a good way to start the weekend. The classic margarita is just that, a classic, originally apparently invented for the famed Rita Hayworth, whose real name was Margarita ? knowing that story makes this drink even better. I digress. There are a few things that make a margarita a margarita ? Oh, and no mixes please ? 1. You need a good Tequila (Don Julio being one of the best). 2. Fresh juices such as fresh pressed oranges and limes. 3. A natural sweetener like stevia drops or agave syrup (this is optional, the original had no sugar).
- Rim your glass with rock salt
- Meanwhile, in a cocktail shaker (kind of an essential part) add some ice, then 1.5 oz of lime juice, 1 oz of orange juice, 1.5 oz of Don Julio Tequila (Reposado), and 2 tbsp agave.
- Then shake until your hands start to feel numb.
- Add ice to your glass and then pour drink over ice.
- Enjoy!
